Pharmacist bags award for diabetes education

Teresa Di Franco’s tireless work in trying to prevent and spread awareness of diabetes has been recognised by the Pharmaceutical Society of WA (PSWA).

The registered pharmacist, based in High Wycombe, is completing an extra year of diabetes education and facilitated exercise groups and shopping tours with members of the community.

Her passion is fuelled by her families’ experience with diabetes. Both her mother and grandmother suffered from the illness.“I was a student for 10 years doing my Bachelor of Science then a Masters in Pharmacy,” she said.“My gran was very unwell with diabetes and so that encouraged me to work in the field that I do.”

The PSWA awarded her the intern grant of the year for her efforts at a recent ceremony.
The PSWA has been in existence since 1895.
