Traditionally, September signals the start of the sneezing season. For many people, the onset of what’s become known as seasonal hay fever is a response to the pollinating London Plane Trees.
Belonging to the Platanus family, the London Plane Tree, a native of the northern hemisphere, is one of the most widely planted trees in Australia. According to the ABC’s Gardening Australia website, most Australian cities have avenues of Plane Trees lining their streets, providing plenty of summer shade and a canopy in the winter to allow the sun to shine through.
